2017 Summit

Africa Oil & Gas Talent Summit is the Continent’s premier event that is focused exclusively on finding ideas and solutions for the sustainable Human Capital Development of her energy sector.  It draws attention to talent as the one key resource that is internal to the African oil industry, and which can deliver regional competitiveness, in a situation where technology and capital are externally controlled, as currently obtains.

Following a successful start in 2015, the Summit has now been enlarged beyond the Gulf of Guinea, to become an Africa-wide event in 2017.

The theme for this year is, Digital Workplace Transformation for Africa's Energy Future – Issues, Prospects & Solutions.

Join the greatest gathering of energy industry leaders and professionals in workforce development, policy, education and training, strategy, and technology, as they explore innovative talent leadership to catalyze Africa’s competitiveness in a global industry.

Featuring...

  • Talent Leadership Summit - 2 days of breakthrough ideas with our global panel of speakers and delegates
  • Pre-Summit Master Class - HR Analytics for Oil & Gas Talent Management
  • Digital Talent Solutions Arena – the exhibition arena for digital technology solutions driving oil and gas people and performance excellence
  • Africa Oil & Gas Human Capital Report – providing actionable insights for policy and strategic workforce planning by energy companies focused on Africa (first of its kind in Africa energy industry)
  • Africa Oil Industry Awards for Innovation & Change Leadership – another first of its kind

The oil industry is not new to technology transformations – subsurface and facilities engineering, that is. But digital is beyond equipment and products, or proficiency with tech toys. Digital is the new ecosystem for all businesses, not excluding the entire value chain of the energy industry. Digital has bored its way into the nexus of organisations in all sectors, and a digital business strategy is central to the success of all strategies today.

The questions we will be tackling...

  • Has digital placed another layer of complexity on an already turbulent oil and gas industry?
  • How will African energy companies survive and thrive in an increasingly digital world?
  • How can NOCs and Operators leverage digital strategies to foster growth of Local Content and perennial skills gap?
  • What leadership and workplace competences are required to leverage the opportunities from digital technology and a new generation of workers?
  • How will digital technologies transform successful workforce planning, performance and knowledge management?
  • How can business leaders orchestrate and integrate digital sense making into the organisation’s ecosystem?
  • What must African energy companies do to organise for agility and innovative capabilities?

Human Resource Development in the Oil & Gas Industry

Why this course is important for you and your organisation...

The HR value proposition has shifted dramatically from back office support to contributing to strategy in the front line. In the oil industry, this is no less so, amidst spontaneous cycles of boom and burst, and the perennial skills gap challenges. In the circumstances, the business looks to HRD to deliver value on several fronts: right number and quality of skills, a robust and dynamic talent pipeline, and an engaged workforce pressured to do more and more with less and less

To be relevant and not be seen as mere "cost centres", support roles like HR, L&D and others must hone their specialized competencies in the context of the dynamics of the oil industry. This course will help you make the right fit between the core skills of HRD and industry requirements, so that you are more aligned to deliver greater strategic value to your organisation

Against the backdrop of a non-technical breakdown of the industry by two facilitators who speak your language, you will learn how to effectively respond to the operational and business requirements of your organisation.

How it will boost you and your organisation…

At the end if the course, you will

  • Describe the E&P Life Cycle from an HRD perspective
  • Interpret industry and organisational dynamics with greater clarity
  • Predict industry workforce trends and deploy appropriate responses more accurately
  • Align your HR thinking with technical and operational requirements
  • Be a more proactive and confident HR Partner in your organisation
