Edith Azinge

Manager, Human Resources Policy, Planning and Programs, Chevron Nigeria Limited

Dr. Azinge is a member of the Chevron Nigeria Limited Human Resources Leadership Team and is based in Lagos, Nigeria.  She holds a Bachelors degree in Science Education, a Masters degree in Guidance and Counselling, both from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife) and a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

She started her professional career as a lecturer at the Institute of Education, University of Benin in 1979 and then moved on to the Federal Ministry of Education where she played pivotal roles in the implementation of school guidance and counselling and primary and nomadic education programs. She rose to the position of Chief Research officer in charge of Operations and Organizational Research and Management Consulting. 

Dr. Azinge moved to the corporate world joining Chevron Nigeria Limited in 1997 as Coordinator, Public Relations and Contributions, responsible for administering the company’s corporate social investment programs. She also held the position of Manager Communications, overseeing media relations and the company’s external communication, after which  she moved on to the Human Resources Department as the Organizational Capability Manager responsible for driving  talent development, training  and mentoring programs as well as facilitating Leadership and Onboarding workshops in the company. 

Dr. Azinge is currently Manager, Human Resources Policy, Planning and Programs. In this capacity, she oversees the company’s strategic staffing initiatives, employee communications, HR policy development, total remuneration, diversity & inclusion initiatives and other workforce management programs.  She is a certified HR practitioner. She holds the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) certification and is a Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Senior Certified Professional - SHRM-SCP.  Dr. Azinge has vast HR experience gained locally and internationally. She is a member of the Chevron HR team that emerged the winner in the Oil and Gas category as well as the overall winner of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) 2014 HR Best Practices Award. She is a certified 360o Feedback coach and a full member of CIPM.

Dr. Azinge is the chairperson of the Asaba ELCA Foundation, a non- profit Foundation dedicated to fostering the development and empowerment of women and girls and she has brought her vast experience in education and development to bear on making the Foundation realize its mission.
